Also arriving Friday was Stevehanliz (Steve his wife Liz and daughter Hannah), HI8PRT (Phil) and Frog338  (Mark, his wife, mother-in-law and the kids, Ross and Liam). fourgo kindly offered his awning and we had a bit of a get together in there for the evening.

Spitfire4 Arrives

Saturday, I was up at the crack of dawn.......well 09:00 anyway!!!!, Ssangyong Ssteve had already driven the 202miles to join us, and within a couple of minutes in pulled Johnny_B (John) in the Rexton, kindly sent down by Norfolk Motor Group, for us to paw over all day, and the Rexton certainly generated a lot of interest all day. The rest of the day is a bit of a blurr, as I don't remember stopping apart from about 30 mins for lunch, I even ate my breakfast outside looking at the Rexton, chatting to John, and if I remember rightly, Wiz can oblige with a picture of that! It seems there was someone to welcome or introduce myself to, or someone wanted a word with me about something continuously all day. Joining us were, Akkerdis, a non-member Gentleman named Simon, and his wife who's name escapes me, (appologies), two non-member ladies who saw our signs and came to say hello, (the Musso they were in is for sale), another non-member in a Musso with the reg. no. M11 SSO spaced to read MUSSO, Lincslpg (Steve and his wife Hannah, with their son Joe) in their GX220 with new stainless exhaust with twin tail-pipes, which was the envy of several, myself included! Scenic (Iain and Katrina and dog) came along, as did Mileoman (Bernard and his Daughter Kirsty) and a red Korando, owned by REMY (Martyn & his wife).

The Rexton Looks better in the flesh !!

The Rexton Interior

oooh a towbar ! Someone get Richard's Van

The Rexton sent down by Norfolk motor group, had been fitted with a tow-bar, so that its towing prowess could be explored, so with my caravan being the biggest, it was voted we should hitch mine up and tow it around the countryside, which we duly did, and I must say, we were all impressed, the suspension of the Rexton solo is more supple than the Musso, giving a better ride quality, .....but, hitch the caravan up and the ride is still excellent, with pitching virtually eliminated, and the three regular Musso tow'ers on board all agreed it was a better ride than a Musso, the Rexton is geared higher than the Musso, but provided the engine was given enough revs to get the turbo spinning (about 2000rpm) then it pulled the 1650kg twin axle Compass Caravan with no problem at all. All those who wanted to drive the Rexton had the opportunity, and all agreed it was not just a Musso in disguise, there were new levels of build quality, fit and finish, as well as clever design touches. John, went around all the Ssangyongs with a clipboard, and judged the Best kept Ssangyong" competition and the Trophy was presented by John of NMG to Gareth, for his Black '97 Musso diesel.......Well done Gareth, and thank you NMG.

The Winning Musso

Saturday at 17:00 we had a meeting to discuss the future of the club and funding options. I set up and email account, and posted the address on the forum, for people who could not attend to send me emails, so they could have their say, I received two emails....both from Mkuipers, his opinion was that we should avoid membership fee's, and fund through voluntary donations, the out come of the 30 minute meeting that went on for an hour and a half, was we should seek sponsorship to cover the running costs of the forum, and several people put money on the table to go towards the £45 Wiz spent out of his own pocket this year, to pay for the web site and forum.

So, in short, the outcome of the meeting was, we will seek sponsorship to cover the cost of the web site and forum, any donations we receive will be held as a fund, Ssteve offered to hold the funds, so if anyone would like to make a donation to club funds please email or PM Ssangyong Ssteve, and we will document the accounts on the web-site, so members will have visibility of donations and what they are spent on. It was agreed that Club funds were to be used for general club business ONLY, and not to fund socials and meetings.

Then Sam, Karen, Vicky, Nikki, Katrina & Liz, Hereafter known as the Social Committee, agreed, it would be useful to have a Social fund, and Sam, offered to hold the funds, if anyone would like to make a donation to the Social fund, please email or PM Fourgo.

Saturday afternoon, Karen, Sam and Nikki, disappeared up to the Hall to start preparing the Hall and food for our evening social. We (all) arrived fashionably late at 20:00 for the 19:30 start! The main items for the evening were the food, a Chinese Auction, and a quiz arranged by Wiz, and the results of the colouring competition for the kids and the advert quiz. It was a loose agenda, so I asked what people wanted to do first......the answer was a unanimous one......FOOD!, so we all tucked in to the marvellous buffet spread put on by the three ladies. Well done Ladies. I didn't hear any complaints, and there was toooo much of it. We moved on to Wiz's quiz, and the results of the colouring competition and the Advert quiz. Wiz's quiz was won by Team Vicky & Nikki, the colouring competition was too hard to judge, so we made all four entrants winners, and the advert quiz was won by Steve & Liz, then we moved on to the Chinese Auction, we didn't finish and leave the Hall until, midnight. Everyone was in agreement that the Hall was great and I should write and thank the Village committee for the use. The night was finished off for Myself, Karen, Paul and Sam, back in their awning for a nightcap.

Sunday saw Bughunta (Nick) arrive in his Daewoo Musso TD, and Ssteve appear from the back of his car where he had slept, I asked him if he'd slept OK and his reply was "I slept better than I did in the tent at Billing!" but he is actively looking for a cheap caravan, so if anyone has a cheap caravan, in the couple of hundred quid bracket, give Ssteve a bell he may be interested. We had a coffee morning, on Sunday morning to try and get rid of some of the left--overs, and then people started to drift away, I left at 17:00 and the only ones left then were Fourgo, and Wiz, but Fourgo was almost packed up, but Wiz was staying until Monday.

I think everyone had a great time, I know I did, there was lots of talk of "next time" and we are looking at trying to arrange another for the end of June, so watch this space.

Total Numbers  for the weekend were:-

Total Ssangyongs (including Daewoos) 18, 4 Korando's, 13 Musso's, 1 Rexton, uncountable smiles.

13 Musso's in total appeared

All Lined up

 nice and clean

I hope all who attended had a good time, we do try to make these family events, and anyone who has any ideas of things to do on the next one, could they please let us know.

 Regards

 Richard
